The situation in Berlin

You are in Berlin Pankow, close to the tramline and Pankow underground station, ensuring an excellent connection to Prenzlauer Berg, Alexanderplatz, Oranienburger Strasse, Friedrichstrasse, Potsdamer Platz and to the exhibition centre. There are plenty of shops to choose from as Pankow has both a small centre and a large modern shopping centre for clothes and other goods.

The apartment is in the Pankow district, an old part of Berlin with a long middle-class tradition and an interesting and varied history. Cinema, television and the thermos flask were invented here and Pankow was and still is home to many artists, actors and politicians.

The apartment is on the ground floor (so you don't need to drag your suitcase up stairs) on a side street.

Guests are welcome to use the simple but cosily furnished kitchen and the bathroom.

Unusual? The world's longest ski slope is on the other side of Berliner Strasse. The "Gletscher" (glacier) ski hall in Pankow (Berliner Strasse 21) has the longest indoor ski slope in the world and also offers skiing courses. Instead of skiing on a real glacier, you glide on a five metre wide special carpet, which moves continuously in the opposite direction to you. Speed and gradient can be adjusted according to your level of skill. It's not only professionals who can have fun here - it's also ideal for beginners who have never skied before.

Insider tip: the Canapé Café at Wolfshagener Strasse 87, at the Schlosspark will pamper you with its comfortable ambience and freshly baked cake. Relax and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea.

The guest room

Your room is in a 3-room apartment and is around 12 square metres in size.

The small room with seating, bed and cupboard offers everything you need for your stay in Berlin. Fitted with gas heating. The double bed is 140 x 200 cm - big enough for one person, a couple or for good friends. Hand towels and bed linen are provided.

Your hostess

Your hostess lived in Australia for some time, so she speaks very good English.

U-Bahn (underground) and S-Bahn (city train) - where would you like to go?

U-Bahn (U2) goes via Eberswalder Strasse (Prenzlauer Berg with the "KulturBrauerei" cultural centre, Kollwitzplatz, Helmholtzplatz), Alexanderplatz and Berlin's old town (television tower, Museum Island, Friedrichstrasse), Potsdamer Platz and the Zoological Gardens (Kurfürstendamm und KaDeWe department store) to Ruhleben;

by S- Bahn you go through the heart of the city, e.g. Oranienburger Strasse -11 min- (Hackescher Market, Tacheles art centre, Museum Island), Friedrichstrasse -13 min- , Unter den Linden -15 min, Potsdamer Platz -17 min- northwards (Blankenburg, Karow, Buch, Bernau) to the Ring and from there to every direction in the city (e.g. the exhibition centre).
