The location of the private rooms

The private room lies in Schallstadt, a small wine suburb 9 km south of Freiburg, in Markgräflerland. Good transport connections in the country triangle of the Black Forest, France (Colmar, the Vosges) and Switzerland (Basel, zoo, museums). Various excursions possible and excellent gastronomy. Art and culture, as well as wellness in the nearby thermal baths don’t leave any wishes unfulfilled. The house of the host family is in the core of the suburb, Schallstadt. The train station is 3-5 mins away.

Description of the private rooms

The 4 lovely, sunny rooms are tucked away in a once-was winery of an ecologically built, modern wooden house with a big garden. Double and single rooms are on the top floor (2nd upper floor) and the 1st upper floor also has a double and single room. They are suitable for up to 6 guests.

The double room (28 m²) on the 1st floor is very quiet. The furniture is modern and consists of a double bed (160 x 200 cm), 2 armchairs with table, shelves, coat rack / wardrobe, CD-player, desk, internet connection (via cable – Devolo. You will receive an adaptor from the hostess that can be attached to your network and laptop), as well as crockery and a kettle. The single room (10 m²) on the 1st floor has a cupboard, seating with side table, a shelf and some crockery. The small library next to the room has a desk with internet that can be used in privacy.

The second double room (22 m²) lies on the 2nd upper floor and has a lovely balcony with a picturesque view of the Vosges. The room has a futon double bed (160 x 200 cm), a small couch, table, desk, TV, internet connection (via cable - Devolo), some crockery and a kettle. The simple, single room lies adjacent to this one and is 8 m² in size (with slanted ceilings). This room is particularly suitable as an extension to the double room for a third guest.

The top and 1st floor each have a shower/bath, which is shared by the guests of the 2 rooms. If you rent both rooms on a floor, the bathroom is used solely by you.

The house is open-plan and extends over a few levels. Thus, it is not suitable for disabled guests or for families with small children. A dog can be brought along if requested. Smoking is allowed in the garden, on the terrace or balcony, but not in the rooms. The big garden has a tea house and seating that is perfect for relaxing and revitalizing. During longer stays, the washing machine of the hostess can be used at a small charge.

The hostess

The hostess is a freelance office coach. This is evident in the way the house is comfortably and tastefully decorated. She grew up in the area and knows where the best places are to visit. Her guests can be greeted in German, English and French.

By car it takes about 15 minutes to Freiburg.You can also easily take the train. The station of schallstadt is a 5 minute walk.
