Two guest rooms - bed and breakfast in Dreieich-Dreieichenhain near Frankfurt / Main

The situation
The rooms are in the town of Dreieich, in an area known as Dreieichenhain which is approx. 15km from Frankfurt city centre. A 25-minute drive will bring you to Frankfurt central railway station, whilst by train the trip takes around 30 minutes. By rail, the exhibition centre is roughly 20 minutes away.

The accommodation
You'll be living with a quite unconventional family with three children. There's fresh home-made bread every day. A total of two rooms are available for rent in the family home. One is in the attic with its own bathroom, while the other is on the upper floor with a shared bathroom. This is a non-smoking house - those who wish to smoke may do so outside or on the terrace. Guests are welcome to use the kitchen.

In this large room under the roof there is a single bed and additional mattresses can be put in. There is a writing desk and of course space in the cupboard for your belongings. The bathroom with WC and shower is for your private use.

Small guest room with shared bath on the first floor

The room has a large double bed (140 x 200 cm ) and a large wardrobe.

There are several supermarkets only a short walk away. The beautiful old town and the old castle are well worth seeing and you shouldn't miss them if you're in Dreieich (more photos below).

Another interesting place to visit is the Dreieich Museum with its permanent and special exhibitions and Ludwig Erk House with its permanent exhibition and lectures on Ludwig Erk (1807-1883) a collector of folk songs. Tours of the Dreieich Museum, the castle and the town itself can be booked through the local historical society (Geschichts- und Heimatverein).

Connection by public transportation to Frankfurt / Main:
Frankfurt Fair: approx. 20 minutes by suburban rail from Dreieich-Dreieichenhain to Dreieich-Buchschlag Station, then with the S-Bahn to the exhibition centre
Frankfurt on Main Central Station Hauptbahnhof: approx. 30 minutes by suburban rail from Dreieich-Dreieichenhain, 3 stations until Dreieich-Buchschlag and then with the S-Bahn (S3 or S4 to Frankfurt Central Station / Hauptbahnhof)
Frankfurt airport: approx. 35 minutes by suburban rail from Dreieich-Dreieichenhain to Dreeich-Buchschlag, then by Bus No. 64 to the airport

A weekly ticket for Frankfurt costs around 18.00 euro and connecting tickets can be purchased for 1-2 euro. A one way ticket from Dreieich to Frankfurt Central Station costs 3.30 euro.

For a fixed charge of 15.00 euro, your hosts will collect you from the airport or central station. A taxi from the airport costs between 20-30 euro, depending on the time of day.

Burg Hayn in Dreieich

The oldest remaining part of the castle dates back to the 11th Century. Various dates have been given for when the castle was first built. The stone bridge was only erected in 1783. Before this, a wooden bridge, which was easily thrown aside stood here. On the left hand side of the the bridge in the moat, one can see the reconstructed remains of the erstwhile double-storey gate which spanned the entrance to the castle until 1790. The moat - previously filled with water to protect the castle - was converted into a green area in 1967.
