The room
Very large room (25 sq m) with a double bed and a nice glass table. If necessary you can get a television.
Here you will find all you need, and you are in the centre of the "Schöneberger Kiez" (district of Schöneberg). The flat is situated on the third floor (without elevator). The windows are situated on the road´s side so that the room is not suitable for persons who are sensitive to noise. The great advantage here is the size of the room and the vicinity to bars, cafeterias, the possibilities to go shopping and so on... .

The flat is situated in an old building in which there are still ceilings covered with stucco.

You share the tiled bath room with tub with your hostess.

Your hostess produces documentary films, she likes non-conventional people (!) and to give advice concerning interesting corners in the city if there is time enough.

Schöneberg - the district
Schöneberg is situated in the west of Berlin between Ku´damm and Kreuzberg. The lifestyle of Schöneberg is also situated between these points: it is neither middle-class atmosphere like the region of the Ku´damm nor radically alternative like Kreuzberg. People say that in Schöneberg everybody has his own wine merchant.

Probably the weekly market on the Winterfeldtplatz is the most important event of the district. The neighbouring Goltzstraße with its legendary cafeteria M is considered to be the catwalk of the district´s scene. Round the corner you will find the Motzstraße that still is the centre of the gay scene, with cafeterias and bars. Here, every year in June the gay-lesbian street party takes place.

In the town hall of Schöneberg John F. Kennedy shouted his well-known "Ich bin ein Berliner!" to the people of West Berlin who were surrounded by the Berlin wall. Until the German reunification West Berlin was governed from the town hall of Schöneberg. Until today every midday you can hear the liberty bell. The cemetery in the Stubenrauchstraße reminds of the probably most famous woman of Berlin: the great Marlene Dietrich, born in 1901 in Schöneberg.

Winterfeldt Markt (market) - the highlight of the Berlin weekly markets.
There are heaps of weekly markets in the city, nevertheless this is one of the nicest. The reason may be the abundance of stalls here. There are stalls of fruits and vegetables, merchants of meat and fish, flower stalls, bakeries and sometimes you hear the merchants through half of the market when they praise their merchandise. And don´t forget the many possibilities to enjoy here your breakfast or lunch. Skewers of shrimps, fish soup, the hellishly sharp curry from Thailand or a falafel. It would be a pity to visit the market with a filled stomach.

And if you cannot decide at which flower merchant you buy the rose for your rendezvous the best you can do is sit down in one of the neighbouring cafeterias or stand in front of the Slumberland and rethink your decision, enjoying a glass of wine, of beer or a cup of milk coffee - and then you wait for the selling off beginning at 14:30.
