The apartment

The guest apartment is located directly next to the apartment of the host.
The guest accommodation is perfect for 2- 4 people but groups of 5-8 people can also be accommodated for.

The apartment with separate entrance is to be found on the 3rd floor (no elevator) of a newly renovated old building and offers a large (24 m²) and small (12 m²) room, a large balcony (6 x 1.5 m, south-west facing), a full equipped kitchen (12 m²), in which guests are able to prepare and enjoy meal, tea or coffee.

The bedroom contains a double bed (180 x 200 cm), a wardrobe and a cosy lounge area with north-east facing window. The small room has two single beds, a wardrobe, a small lounge area and south-west facing window. Two bunk beds can also be provided on request.

Wireless internet is available in the room (a PC or a notebook computer can also be loaned for a small charge (this could save guests extra weight when travelling). Guests have their own private bathroom with tiled flooring and shower.

The beautiful balcony gets the sun almost all day, which you can enjoy in daylight or sit and watch the sun fade. Smokers can also indulge undisturbed here... Only in exceptional circumstances (e.g. when it is extremely cold) is smoking permitted in the neighbouring apartment.

If you want to arrive with several guests, the host can accommodate more people in his apartment.

The host

The Hungarian multimedia producer has been living in Berlin for 20 years and alongside Hungarian, can also speak perfect German and a basic level of English, as well as some Russian and Polish (but with gesturing can get by with all languages!).

guest bathroom with shower

The Berlin enthusiast has eclectic interests and has been preoccupied for years with accommodating traditions and people from around the world. Also living with the host, is a Hungarian journalist who reports on the city's current affairs, primarily on art and media. There is therefore an ever-changing array of scientific and artistic guests, who from time to time leave behind small work exhibitions to be marvelled at.

The host is more than happy to offer help and advice for planning your stay in Berlin and will even give away one or two insider tips!

The surrounding area

The guest accommodation is located near to the public park Hasenheide in the north of Neukölln, near the district of Kreuzberg and Treptow. Here you will find an open air theatre/cinema, an open air pool, tennis courts, the Jahn sportshall and naturally enough space to simply relax.

Nord-Neukölln (Kreuzberg + Neukölln = Kreuzkölln or Reuterkiez) has developed into the locals' best kept secret in the last few years, since it has accrued several new galleries and interesting cafés. In less than 5 mins you can reach the Landwehrkanal, one of Berlin's oldest waterways, which links up the two large rivers of Berlin the Havel and the Spree. On the bank of the Landwehrkanal, you will find numerous cafés, green areas and footpaths, along which you are able to explore the city.

If you wish you can also hire a canoe for exploration! Although this offer only applies to those with experience, since the Berlin waterways carry busy traffic, especially from passenger ships. Those who do not wish to travel by canoe can take advantage of the numerous offers of ship tours: as Berlin was built on water, a boat trip offers a special view from this perspective. Trips on offer last from 1-6 hours and trips to Potsdam with these ships are possible.

There are 3 marinas nearby.
1) Kottbusser Gate harbour- the cult-café "Ankerklause" is to be found directly here (15 min walk)
2) Treptower harbour- various ship tours depart from here (20 min walk)
3) Urban harbour with large lawn and resturant-ships (20 min walk).

You are also very welcome to lend a bike from the host in order to explore the city.

he northern part of Neukölln is dominated by well preserved, densely populated historical buildings and is in many repects orientated towards its neigbouring district, Kreuzberg. Approx 150 m away, Hermannplatz, one of the liveliest places in Berlin, awaits visitors to Neukölln, for whom Karl-Marx-Straße is a well-known shopping street. Here you will also find the most extraordinary opera in Germany, the Neuköllner Oper (musical theatre).

Transport links

The apartment is ideally situated for travel links- the Neukölln underground station is only 5 mins (500 metres) walk away, the bus stop at Fuldastrasse is a 3min walk away. By bicycle (which can be lent from the host), you are only approx 30 mins from all the important tourist attractions and Berlin's squares.
