The location in Berlin Kreuzberg

This sunny and charmingly decorated apartment lies in the quiet, but very central area Gräfe-Kiez in Kreuzberg, between Südstern and Kottbusser Tor, near Urbanhafen (Planufer). Gräfe-Kiez is famous for its many small shops, bistros and bars, which invite you to stroll through, shop and relax. Hermannplatz with its stores and shopping options is situated in only about 700 m distance on foot.

The Apartment

The sunny apartment of 36 m² is situated on the fourth floor (no lift). It is furnished for up to 4 guests with a comfortable studio couch with a good matress for 2 people (1.40 m), a loft bed (only for a person up to 80 kg, not safe for children) and space for an additional matress. Thus, there is accommodation for up to 4 guests. There is also a small bathroom with shower and a kitchen with two hot plates, refrigerator, water boiler and a coffea maker, all to exclusive use of the guests.

Smoking and pets are not possible at the apartment. Languages of the hosts are German, English, some Norwegian.

The district of Berlin Kreuzberg

The well-known suburb Kreuzberg lies in the centre of Berlin and connects the west-side areas Charlottenburg and Schöneberg with the original east-side areas Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg. You won’t get more central than this, for e.g. in just a 15 minute bus ride you will arrive at Potsdamer Platz.

Only in some meters distance there is the Urban harbour. That is a wider area on the banks of the Landwehrkanal where you will find some wonderful old boats moored there, which are now used as theatre and restaurant barges. There is also a large sunbathing lawn, which is very popular. At the Landwerkanal there is also the Paul-Linke-Ufer, with a lot of small cafés and a nice market, too. ebenfalls mit vielen kleinen Cafés und einem schönen Wochenmarkt. In the summer the close by open-air pool "Prinzenbad" is also very inviting. (4 euros per day, 7 euros Family card, rate for early or late entrance 2 euros)

Public transport facilities

Minutes to get to the public transport on foot:

3 min. Grimmstr./Urbanstrasse (Metrobus M41, connection to Hauptbahnhof)
7 min. to metro station Südstern (U7), 8 min. to Schönleinstrasse (metro U8, to Alexanderplatz): / 10 min. to Kottbusser Damm (metro U1)

By bus and metro you will reach other district of the city in only some minutes. For example will you reach

• Potsdamer Platz in 15 min; from Körtestraße by bus M41 (direction Hallesches Tor)
• Checkpoint Charlie in 17 min; from Körtestraße by bus M41 (direction Hallesches Tor) until metro station Hallesches Tor, then by metro U6 (direction Alt-Tegel) until Kochstrasse / Checkpoint Charlie
• Alexanderplatz in 23 min; from metro station Schönleinstrasse by metro U8 until Alexanderplatz
• Hauptbahnhof in approx. 26 min; from Körtestraße by bus M41 direction Berlin Hauptbahnhof
• Zoologischer Garten in 36 min; from Körtestraße by bus M41 (direction S Hauptbahnhof) until Potsdamer Platz, then by bus 200 (direction Zool. Garten) until Zoologischer Garten
• Fairground, ICC in 42 min; from metro station Südstern by metro U7 (direction S + U Rathaus Spandau) until Wilmersdorfer Str., from U Wilmersdorfer Str. / Kantstrasse by bus M49 (direction Staaken) until Messe Nord / ICC

How about a boat trip? Berlin’s waterways offer the unique possibility to view the attractions of the city centre from the water. The 3 hour round trip takes you in a large circle, covering a distance of about 23km. The historical and modern buildings of this metropolis, as well as green shores, dense city landscapes, industrial areas and the aerial railway all lie on the route of the Rederei Riedel. This 3 hour bridge (city) trip over the Spree and Landwehrkanal starts nearby at Hallesches Tor or Kottbusser Brücke, goes twice a day and as an evening trip on Wednesdays. Restaurant tip: if you are looking for top quality in an absolutely unique environment, visit Restaurant Altes Zollhaus at Landwehrkanal (Carl-Herz-Ufer 30). Old farmyard furniture and detailed restoration of an old factory have successfully created a country-home atmosphere. The picturesque Zollhaus in Kreuzberg is a wonderful place to dream…in summer, the garden is in full bloom at the Landwehrkanal, where the ships pass by. In winter, you can sit in the cozy, countryside guest room of the Zollhaus, while warming yourself by the fireplace.
