The location

The apartment is situated in a quiet surrounding*, with lots of surrounding greenery and without any through-traffic. Still it's not far from the two centers of our city:

To the city east (Berlin Mitte) you will need about 20 min, but as parking in Berlin can be quite expensive we would rather suggest a ride with the Berliner underground (U-Bahn).

To the city west (Ku'damm/Europacenter) it is about 15 min by car, and only a little more by U-Bahn as well.

*The apartment lies in the former Officers quarters in the formerly French occupied region of Berlin, der Cité Guynemer (that is why the streets are named in French). The Tegel airport cannot be heard from here, the start and runway lie well south of the quarters, the noise and pollution are carried away by the wind.

You will live with a nice host and his son (born 1993) and two cats (cats live on the balcony, not in the apartment).

Your room

You will find the room (approx. 22 m²) clean and equipped in a simple manner (Double-bed or Single bed, with a large wardrobe and Cable-TV). A second room is also available.

You can use the kitchen and share the bathroom. The Kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, fridge, and so on. You can also use the living room sould you wish to.

After enquiry you could use phone, fax and internet access. If needed, you can even use the small notebook in the kitchen for internet. WLAN/Wi-Fi free of charge!

The bathroom is with bathtub and shower and there is a second WC. There is also a washing machine and dish washer - which you can use.

The flat is on the ground floor so there's no hauling luggage upstairs!

The surroundings

The flat is situated in one of Berlins green areas. In an 8 to 10 min walk you will arrive at 'Flughafensee', a little lake dear to the Berliners. This is where the 'Jungfernheide' and the 'Tegeler forst' begins, one of the City´s forests. Indeed, Berlin is a green metropolis, one of the greenest in Europe.

There are a number of nice forest-trails, like for example to the 'Tegeler See' or to 'Alt-Tegel' (Tegel-City), where you will also find boats for a nice Berlin riverboat-sightseeing.

Public Transport

It is about 5 - 10 min walk to the nearest Underground-station (U-Bahnhof Otisstraße).

Berlin Fair, ICC, Exhibition center 25 minutes (from U-Otisstrasse take U6 to Kurt-Schuhmacher-Platz, then the express-bus X21 to Messedamm)
Airport Berlin Tegel: 12-20 minutes (from U-Otisstrasse take U6 to Kurt-Schuhmacher-Platz, then the express-bus X9 to TXL Airport)
Airport Berlin Schönefeld: about 60 minutes (from U-Otisstrasse take U6 to S+U Friedrichstrasse, then S9 to the airport)

Environment zone- pollution badge
The inner city of Berlin has been a part of the environment zone since 1/1/2008. If you wish to travel by car in Berlin's centre, you can find information here: Pollution badge for tourists. The accommodation is located outside of the environment zone. So you can leave your car here and use public transport in the environment zone.
