The guest room

The 23 m² large room is in a typical old-style Berlin apartment with wooden panels in the first floor. 1-2 adults and 1 child can stay here. It is comfortably decorated with a single bed (0,90 x 2,00 m) and a sleeper couch (1,20 x 1,90 m) for 2 people. Another guest bed (0,80 x 1,90 m) can also be set up if requested.

Relax in front of the TV after a strenuous day in the city or after an exhibition visit. A TV and DVD-player can be found in the room.

The large balcony is perfect for sunbathing and relaxing in the summer. Breakfast can be enjoyed in the separate dining room. A play corner has many toys to keep the children occupied. The apartment is on the 1st floor and can be reached via the stairs. The use of the fully equipped kitchen and the well-cared-for, new bathroom is shared. Internet is available.

A further, smaller room (12 spm) is available in the neighbouring house, by the host’s daughter. The room has a single bed and is suitable for 1 guest, at the same price. You would have the kitchen and the bath for your own.

The accomodation is not suitable for mechanics.

The location in Berlin Neukölln in Reuterkiez

This 3 room, traditionally built apartment lies in a quiet avenue in the artistic quarter Reuterkiez, between Landwehrkanal and Hermannplatz. Many small stores from newcomer designers and artists can be found here, and unique treasures and souvenirs are waiting to be discovered. Kiez has many traditional, quaint cafés and international restaurants.

The docking station of the Reederei Riedel at Landwehrkanal, is at the Maybachufer, about a 5 minute walk away. Three hour (and longer) round-trips on the boat, along the Landwehrkanal-Spree begin here, from which many visitors enjoy viewing Berlin’s attractions while learning about the history of the capital city. These water tours offer a special experience and a good alternative to the bus sightseeing tours.

The famous oriental market occurs twice a week at Maybachufter, where enticing aromas and colours emphasize the international flair dominating this area of Berlin. The large Hasenheide Park can also be reached on foot. Go for wonderfully long walks amongst nature, visit the small zoo, or take the children for a pony ride.

Your hostess

Guests treasure the homely charm of the apartment and always feel comfortable here. The sincerity and helpfulness of the hostess, together with the cozy atmosphere, all ensure an unforgettable stay in Berlin.

The hostess has left the active career-life and looks forward to hearing new stories from different countries and cultures. Her daughter lives in the adjacent apartment and has organized many events in Berlin. She will gladly help where she can and can look after the guest’s pets together with pug Emma (see right image).

Apart from German and English, they speak a little Italian and Spanish.

Both are non-smokers. Smokers are requested to only smoke on the balcony.

Travel connections

Travel connections are excellent. Two U-Bahn (subway) lines and many metro buses are only a short walk away.

The apartment can be reached with the U7 (station Hermannplatz) or U8 (station Schönleinstrasse) or with Metrobus M41 from Hauptbahnhof (direction Baumschulenweg) to Hermannplatz.

The access from the city freeway A100 to Tempelhofer Damm, Mehringdamm und Gneisenaustrasse is also very easy.

Parking places are easy to find during the day, but a bit more scarce in the evenings.

• Potsdamer Platz in about 19 minutes by undergound U7 Hermannplatz to Yorckstr and from there by citytrain to Potsdamer Platz.
• Alexanderplatz in about 10 minutes from Hermannplatz by underground U8 directly to Alexanderplatz
• Zoologischer Garten in about 23 minutes from Hermannplatz by underground U7 to Berlinerstr, change than into U9 to Zoologischer Garten
• Ostbahnhof in about 14 minutes from Schönleinstrasse by underground U8 to Jannowitzbrücke and than by city train to Ostbahnhof.
• Hauptbahnhof (main station) in about 18 minutes from der Schönleinstrasse by underground U8 to Jannowitzbrücke and take the citytrain until Hauptbahnhof.
• Flughafen (Airport) Berlin Tegel in about 36 minutes from Hermannplatz by underground U7 to Jakob-Kaiser-Platz and than take the bus X9 to Flughafen Tegel.
• Flughafen (Airport) Schönefeld in about 27 minutes from Hermannplatz by underground U7 to Rudow and than take the bus X7 to Flughafen Schönefeld.

Animal care

Small dogs up to 35cm in shoulder height are welcome to join you on your stay. Dogsitting is also offered … while you visit a museum or an exhibition, your dog will be well-looked after in the house, taken for a walk in nature or in the nearby dog park.

On request, baskets, dog blankets and food can also be supplied.
